The property lies close to a picturesque village which dates back to the Plantagenets. It is southeast of Bergerac, which can be reached in under half an hour. The local region is rich in historical and architectural interest. The Dordogne River is 10 minutes to the north, with a number of pretty chateaux and villages lining its banks. The winelands of Bergerac and Bordeaux are within easy reach. Nearest airports are Bergerac (25 minutes) and Bordeaux (1.5 hours), with flights to several international destinations.
Entrance and Dining Hall. The transparency of this house is astonishing. Every prospect pleases. The main entrance is through a glass door with a copper covered porch into the Dining Hall to the east. The flooring throughout the upper ground and lower ground floors is of Turkish unpolished marble which continues to the outside terraces giving a feel of indoor/outdoor flow.
Drawing Room. There is a large open fireplace on the west wall. Windows on three sides, with wonderful views through a large arched east doorway out to the lake and to the pond on the south elevation. Access to the kitchen and entrance hall through archways. Several floor to ceiling windows in the house have wooden shutters and fly screens which can be rolled into the wall cavity itself, a rare and highly efficient feature. The highly sophisticated lighting system can be fully controlled and dimmed from all switches.
Master Bedroom. Situated on the upper ground floor, accessed from the entrance hall. It has large arched floor to ceiling windows looking east over the lake and west over the orchard. One of the arches slides into the hidden wall giving access to a wooden terrace, leading to the infinity pool. There are fitted wardrobes and a built-in dressing table. The bedroom is open plan to the bathroom, and an oak cantilever stairway leads to the dressing room upstairs, which has generous space for clothes and footwear. All four bedrooms are en-suite and have top quality fittings throughout. The master bedroom, for example, has a Dornbracht Sieger design shower, which has won prizes in publications such as the RIBA Journal this gives an indication of the quality of product which the owner has sourced. Lower Ground Floor. Cantilever solid oak stairs with a glass wall lead from the kitchen to the Lower Ground level, into a second salon or den overlooking the large pond. This room leads off to two spacious en-suite bedrooms. One bedroom and the salon have sliding glass doors leading to a terrace on the south side overlooking the pond. The other bedroom and bathromm look to the west, and there is a path and steps up to the pool.
