The chateau has 600M2 of habitable area, arranged on two floors and a large attic. The ground floor comprises a sitting room, informal dining room, bedroom with bathroom, kitchen, large scullery, sauna and shower, and stores. Ceilings are original oak, with beams either painted or limewashed. There are large stone fireplaces in the public rooms, some with wood burning stoves. All rooms have south facing fenestration, some with double doors opening on to the garden and sitting and dining terraces. Floors are stone or tiled, with wall to wall heavy duty coir matting. A wide stone stairway leads to the first floor.
The first floor is also accessed by a grand Fontainebleau external staircase, leading into the entrance hall. The hall gives access to the drawing room and formal dining room, both of which have superb original stone fireplaces. On either side of the receiving rooms are wings which lead to the bedrooms, three in the west wing and two in the east. All rooms have south facing views to the garden and woods beyond through tall elegant windows. Original oak beams support the ceilings. Oak flooring fitted with wall to wall carpet. All bedrooms have bathrooms en suite, which have been created at mezzanine level, two of which accessed by spiral stairs in order to preserve the lofty proportions of the boudoirs. Bathrooms are well equipped with high quality modern appliances.
The Guest House is a lovely comfortable house situated at the south end of the garden. On the ground floor, it has a large open plan living room/dining/kitchen. There are oak columns and ceiling beams, and a magnificent stone fireplace. Double bedroom with ensuite bathroom. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. In fact the master bedroom even has his and hers bathrooms, surely the answer to the perfect relationship. The extensive landing and mezzanine gives ample space for enjoying a quiet read.
On the east side of the garden are three cottages. One is currently used as a Yoga Studio with two treatment rooms and shower facilities on the first floor. One of the other cottages is in use as a Gymnasium and the third at present not in use. All of the garden cottages have been renovated and fully modernised and could become rentable accommodation or be suitable for many other uses.
The Caretaker's Cottage is adjacent to the guest house. It has living accommodation downstairs, with two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. Currently occupied by the manager of the estate.
The grounds are a sanctuary of peace and tranquillity. Mature trees and wisteria provide shade in the height of summer, and a healthy stream is traversed by pretty bridges. At a suitable distance from the houses is a sparkling swimming pool with a stone loggia with changing rooms and shower. To the east lies the trout lake, fed by the river Manaurie further up the valley; it has an island and fishing platforms. Scenes reminiscent again of Monet and Corot. The estate extends to 73 hectares (182 acres), comprising mature woodland and lush meadows.
