Villa Ripa, which was originally the guesthouse of a former convent, was built in the early 700's and remodelled in the 800's, the structure remaining unchanged since then. The property is surrounded by approximately five hectares of land, three of which are woods. As well as a vast and partially terraced garden in a style typical of the time, there is also an olive grove with 400 trees. A walkway leads from the buildings to a secluded, circular clearing that is surrounded by trees; a perfect haven away from the main body of the villa. The villa measures approximately 1,100 square metres in size and has been meticulously maintained in every way. Full of original features and internal decoration the wonderful reception rooms and bedrooms are extremely comfortable and homely whilst losing none of the classic elegance one would expect to find in a villa of this type. The custodian's quarters are attached to the villa itself and have their own independent access.
A second building consists of a vaulted limonaia' on the ground floor with an open plan converted loft area above. In addition there is a small chapel dedicated to St. Francis, it forms part of the property and is opened for worship on the feast day of the saint. The pool is located behind the house in a location that is both sunny and secluded. Close to Lucca (5kms) and to Pisa airport (12kms) Villa Ripa is both convenient and private; an authentic home with plenty of potential.
